What better place to look for some of the most important life lessons you can find than in the Harry Potter movies and books.
Here we have (only) 5 quick but very useful life lessons we were able to glean from this amazing franchise.
Enjoy (and try them)!
1. Make Good Choices, Always
There’s always a choice, and it’s the choices you make that define you in the end.
“It is our choices that tell us who we really are, far more than our abilities.” – Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
2. Always Be Open With The People You Love
Never be shy or embarrassed to share both your love AND your fears with your friends and family. Also, always stand up to your friends if they are being jerks.
“It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.” –Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
3. Things We Lose Are Not Lost Forever
Never say never to anything in your life and never let go of the things (read: people) you love.
“The things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect.” –Luna Lovegood, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
4. Never Fear The Unknown
Make sure you don’t waste your life being afraid of what follows. “To the well-organized mind, death is merely the next great adventure.” –Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
5. Be Subversive, Always
No great person in this world has ever been afraid to stand up to The Man.
“It is the first responsibility of every citizen to question authority.” – J.K. Rowling. Ok, we know that Benjamin Franklin said it first, but J.K. Rowling wants to make sure kids of today don’t miss on this one.
