With Michael Keaton having the spotlight in the recent days with his “Birdman” movie and possible Oscar nominations for the same, the timing couldn’t be better for news about a sequel to the legendary “Beetlejuice.”
Tim Burton, Keaton’s good friend and an esteemed Hollywood director, recently had an interview with Coming Soon in which he discussed the progress of “Beetlejuice 2.”
Said Burton: “It’s a character that I love and miss and I miss actually working with Michael. There’s only one Betelgeuse. We’re working on a script and I think it’s probably closer than ever and I’d love to work with him again.”
Besides “Beetlejuice,” Burton and Keaton worked together on movies such as “Batman” and “Batman Returns.”
But it’s safe to say that the duo hasn’t collaborated since 1992, so we expect “Beetlejuice 2” to be as much fun for them as it will be for us.
But don’t get your hopes up just yet. Even though the sequel to the 1990 funny and creepy flick is almost sure to happen, there is a number of movies on Tim Burtons list that will come out before “Beetlejuice 2.”
One such movie is “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” which is set for release on March 4, 2016. If Burton doesn’t get distracted in the next 15 months, then we have nothing to worry about!
