Alyson Hannigan, who played Lily Aldrin on the much talked about TV show “ How I Met Your Mother,” has recently been chatting with News.com and discussed how the series finale of HIMYM could have been quite different.
More than 3 years have passed since we finally found out who the mother of Ted Mosby’s children really was, but the series finale was so quick and rushed that fans are still discussing it online.
There Should Have Been A Two-Hour Season-Ender
During her interview, Alyson Hannigan revealed how she really felt about the series finale. According to the actress, the HIMYM ending could have and should have been much better.
One of the things that disappointed her the most was how quick it was and how many scenes ended up cut from the finale:
“I was bummed they didn’t just make it a two-hour season-ender, so they would get to show certain parts [that were cut],” said Hannigan.
“The table read for the finale was so good, so right, but it was also like 14 hours long. So when I actually saw the final version of the show, I was like ‘they cut out everything!’… It just seemed too quick. Obviously it was a tear-jerker, but with all the stuff that got cut out it was too fast … like ‘OK, now we’re going to find out the mum’s dead, then suddenly, OK — he’s with Robin now’, and you’re just like, ‘wait, what happened?!’”
Robin And Barney Marriage Was A Mistake
Hannigan also mentioned that she wasn’t exactly a fan of the fact that Robin married Barney. The How I Met Your Mother star thought it was out of character for Robin to marry a man like Barney. And vice-versa.
“I didn’t think Barney should have ever gotten married. I liked Barney and Robin. But in my heart, I always wanted her with Ted. I just feel they [Barney and Robin] shouldn’t have gotten married.”
