Fans of this lovely story are in for a treat. Well, a double treat actually. Two huge projects are under construction and according to the information we’ve gleaned so far, they are both going to be super-awesome.
Namely, both John Favreau and Andy Serkis are making their own versions of this beautiful story and they are both scheduled to be release within next two years. Whether the jungle is big enough, or should I say massive enough, for both projects, only time will tell.
Now, let us focus on Serkis’ version.
Andy is apparently going all in since he’s been recruited some seriously huge names for his Jungle. Benedict Cumberbatch joined the cast several days ago and now we have more A-listers for you.
Christian Bale, Naomie Harris, Cate Blanchett, Peter Mullan, Tom Hollander, Eddie Marsan and Rohan Chand have just joined this massively impressive ensemble.
Just to spice things up a bit more, Serkis is apparently experiencing some bare necessities himself since he’s decided to join this awesome cast on screen. Namely, he will not just be directing his take on Jungle Book, he will also be playing Mowgli’s best friend, the beloved Baloo the Bear.
What about the others?
Cate Blanchette will hopefully be hypnotic and hissy enough to voice the dangerous snake Kaa, Christian Bale will lend his voice to the fearless and protective panther Bagheera, while Cumberbatch will obviously voice the arrogant and self proclaimed lord of the jungle, Shere Khan. Hollander will lend his voice to Shere Khan’s jackal henchman Tabaqui, whereas Peter Mullan will be lending his voice to Akela, the leader of the wolf pack that raises Mowgli.
Serkis said the shooting will start soon and the film will be a mixture of live-action, performance capture and CG animation, all in one attempt to bring this beloved story to life. “Jungle Book: Origins” is set for October 21, 2016. Until then, try to look for the bare necessities, Old Mother Nature’s recipes, those simple bare necessities of life.
