David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, creators of Game of Thrones, admitted the show “was almost a disaster” when it was first supposed to air.
Namely, after spending four years trying to get the pilot episode shot and aired, which included filming on location for seven months, when the footage came back it was so bad 90% of it had to be done again!
Benioff and Weiss have never avoided admitting just how bad the original pilot was, saying not even their friends were able to tell that Cersei and Jaime were brother and sister, let alone twins.
There has been so much hype surrounding the original pilot that fans wish it would finally get released so that they could be the judge of just how much it sucks.
Luckily, the creators didn’t give up on the show, and in all likelihood made one of the biggest rescues in Hollywood history.
Director Craig Mazin told them: “You had saved a complete piece of s—t and turned it into something brilliant. That never happens!”
