Ridley Scott is making preparations for his next sci-fi adaptation “The Martian,” and after he managed to get Matt Damon, the famous director has now offered Kate Mara one of the prime roles.

Hmm… Sounds nice already.

Plot?

“Cabin In The Woods” writer, Drew Goddard, adapted the story from Andy Weir’s book and we will most certainly follow Matt Damon as a NASA astronaut named Mark Watney.

Mark is left stranded on Red Planet after his crew members are all forced to evacuate the mission by a dust storm. In order to survive, Watney is trying to re-invent water and grow food.

His crewmates are oblivious of his survival and they set off on their voyage back to Earth on the spacecraft called Hermes.

Meanwhile, over at NASA they try to find a way to rescue Mark, and the rest of the Hermes crew eventually tries to help when they finally learn he’s alive and kicking.

Kate’s schedule

As for Mara, her next big endeavor is the role of Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman in Fox’s installment of “The Fantastic Four,” alongside Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller and Jamie Bell.

The superhero movie will be out on June 18, 2015.
