Great news (hopefully) for all The Witcher fans out there! We say hopefully because one never knows how these video games adaptations might turn out to be ( looking at you Assassin’s Creed).

However, The Witcher TV series is being made by Netflix and it truly sounds like it will be an absolutely incredible project that may just meet our pretty high expectations.

After the game’s enormous success on platforms like Playstation 4 and Xbox, Netflix has decided to turn it into a TV series and since they pretty much know what they are doing lately – this indeed already sounds like a slam dunk for the studio.

The Witcher Saga

The story of The Witcher started as a saga comprised of eight novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski, but soon the story inspired the games by CD Projekt Red RPG games.

Although Sapkowski does not profit from the games (which seems rather unfair), the writer is listed as a creative consultant for the upcoming TV production, according to IGN.

Here’s what he had to say:

“I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories. Staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing.”

Sounds promising indeed.

Already In For More Than 1 Season?

It is speculated that Tomas Baginski, the man behind the intro for The Witcher game trilogy and the Cyberpunk 2077 teaser trailer, will be directing “an episode per season,” and this per season might just hint that The Witcher TV series is already a lock for the long haul.

Executive producers, Sean Daniel and Jason Brown, said the following:

“The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”
