While Disney and Lucasfilm officially confirmed that the Star Wars spin-off films are soon going into production, the details are being firmly kept under wraps.
However, we do know that the studio has already hired Josh Trank and Gareth Edwards to work on these projects that will fit in between the new trilogy installments, and now some new rumors have surfaced about Obi-Wan Kenobi getting his own movie.
The rumors have been circling for quite some time now, but according to Making Star Wars website, there just might be some movement on the concept soon.
“For the spin-off movies they were initially going to stay away from any Jedi or Sith characters,” it is stated on the site. “But I’m hearing now that because of the popularity of Obi-Wan (fans recently voting for him on the official website etc.) that an art team is now working with a writer on concepts for an Obi-Wan movie.”
Ewan McGregor is up for it
The actor is feeling optimistic, and he even revealed the possible setting for his upcoming spin-off.
“I think it’s a good idea,” Ewan stated for the MTV News last year.
“The only bit that I could get away with doing is after the last one I made, Episode III, before Alec Guinness, there’s that period where he’s in the desert. That might be my window, there, to tell that story. I don’t know what he did in the desert. We could make up some stuff.”
Nothing has been officially announced yet, so until then, stay tuned for the confirmed sequels. Episode VII is scheduled for December 18, 2015.
