The gods of sci-fi have smiled upon us! Although it seemed like the world of Underworld will have to go without Kate Beckinsale’s protagonist vamp machine Selene, luckily enough, the famed actress changed her mind and decided not to disappoint the fans of the franchise. The A-lister is officially on board with the project, which will be the franchise’s fifth movie.
Apart from Beckinsale, Theo James will reprise his role as the vampire David. As far as other casting rumors or confirmations go, things are still kept hush-hush much like the plot.
The script will be penned by Cory Goodman, but there’s no word on the plot yet.
Anna Foerster, who has experience on TV shows like Criminal Minds, will be making her feature film debut as the director.
There have been reports that the movie will be titled Underworld: Next Generation, but no confirmation has yet been made.
The movie is set to start filming in October, in Prague.
Meanwhile, if you’re in the mood to be amazed with Beckinsale’s mad acting skills, you can check her out in Absolutely Anything and Whit Stillman’s Love & Friendship. She previously worked on Stonehearst Asylum and Michael Winterbottom’s The Face Of An Angel.
